What is the age range of the musicians ?
The orchestra accepts young musicians aged 17 to 29.



What is the selection process ?
Auditions for the UBS Verbier Festival Youth Orchestra are held every year. For the exact selection process see section The Auditions.



What expenses are covered ?
Orchestra members have all their expenses covered. They receive free travel, board and lodging for both the summer session in Verbier and the Autumn tour, as well as a weekly financial contribution.



Is there a contract ?
Each musician has to sign a letter of agreement, to commit himself or herself to participate in the activity periods and accepting the orchestra regulations.



How long are the musicians required to stay in Verbier and on tour ?
In the year 2002, musicians will come to Verbier on June 23, to begin a rehearsal period of three weeks and then to take part in the Verbier Festival, from July 19 to August 4. For the tour, they have to arrive in Munich for rehearsals on November 8 and they will leave on November 26.



How long do the members remain in the Orchestra ?
Appointments to the Orchestra are made each year, following auditions worldwide. New members are offered positions as they become available. Numbers are established according to repertoire in the programmes and vary slightly each year.



How many will be recruited each year ?
The exact number depends on the repertoire and therefore will vary slightly each year. It is a full symphony orchestra, counting a total of 112 musicians for the year 2002.



Plans for future tours ?
The November 2002 tour will be to nine European cities. Plans for 2003 are to tour Asia and Europe.
