Martin T:son Engstroem is the founder of the Verbier Festival & Academy in Switzerland. As its Executive Director since 1994, he has built the annual festival in the Swiss Alps into one of Europe's leading classical music events with its own resident orchestra, the UBS Verbier Festival Youth Orchestra. Prior to 1994 he worked as an independent music consultant for clients such as EMI France and Erato Film Productions. From 1975 to 1987 he helped launch and develop the Op?ra et Concerts agency in Paris, representing artists such as Barbara Hendricks, Jessye Norman, Birgit Nilsson, Renato Bruson, Karl B?hm, Bernard Haitink and Giuseppe Sinopoli. In November 1999, he was appointed Vice President Artists & Repertoire at Deutsche Grammophon.
